Hitachi Metals has developed the first nanocrystalline soft magnetic material worldwide. It is marketed as ,Finemet ®'. ,Finement ®' is characterized by high saturation flux density and high permeability. It is also very heat-stable. ,Finemet ®' offers optimal characteristics for EMC filtering and contributes to energy savings. It allows considerably smaller and lighter inductors than traditional materials.


Amorphous Cores


METGLAS ® Inc. is the world leader in amorphous metal ribbon and components. The main application field are distribution transformers, high-frequency inductors for power electronics and RFID tags. This technology has been developed since 1970 at Metglas, Inc. (later AlliedSignal) in Morristown, New Jersey.

Amorphous metals, also known as metallic glass, differ from traditional metals by their non-crystalline structure and possess unique physical and magnetic properties. They combine hardness with flexibility. The most common names are  : METGLAS ®, Amorphous metal, metallic glass, transformer core alloy, distribution transformer cores. The METGLAS ® core materials include: MAGNAPERM ®, MICRO LITE ®, MICRO LITE ® FORMS and     POWERLITE ®
